Another favorite for 2009. The inspiring true story of Dr. Paul Farmer and his friends personify Margaret Mead's famous line, "A small group of thoughtful people could change the world. Indeed, it's the only thing that ever has." I was even inspired to donate money to PIH - just a token gesture but it is nonetheless admittedly out of character for me. It has also led me to look at my own work in government with a renewed sense of mission and meaning. Better to use our talents, position, and opportunities to "make the world a better place", whatever that means to each of us and even in a relatively small way. View all my reviews >>
